This is what KLUE say about our home town
As the pictures above by Shermen shows colourfully, KLue was in Kota Bharu recently. More specifically, it was Shermen and I. While he took the photos, I wandered around, took notes and ate great food. Kota Bharu is a pretty great place to visit, if only as a stop over on the way to Pulau Perhentian. People are pleasant and warm, the food is great, and the city is different enough from KL to be fascinating. Some of the places we checked out include the Siti Khadijah Market, Pantai Cinta Berahi (now known as Pantai Cahaya Bulan, but I prefer the former name), and this Pasar Borong where second-hand sneaker traders thrive. Of course, for makan, we headed to the famous White House for kopi, telur setengah masak, and roti kahwin. The ayam percik at Yati was wonderful, while Thai food at a restaurant named Phuket (near restaurants named Chiengmai, Bangkok) was excellent too. Well worth the effort in locating it, as it's in the middle of nowhere in Wakaf Baru.Thanx a lot man! Long Live Kota Bharu
There's a bunch of other places we checked out in Kota Bharu too, but I'll leave it for the actual article coming out in the May issue of KLue. It's part of our Air Asia travel series, which kicked off in March with Kota Kinabalu. Next up is Bangkok, then Kota Bharu. Some other cities we'll be visiting include Yogyakarta, Siem Reap and Miri. KL might be great and all, but it sure is nice to get out from time to time.
Oh, we also had some telur penyu at this popular nasi padang restaurant called Hover. We were wondering what the ping pong ball looking things were. Now we know. It's probably not a big deal to the locals, but for us KL fellas, it was something new. Now I wonder how much we've contributed to the extinction of the species.
